
The Republic of Moldova – increasingly attractive to visitors
In 2024, the number of visitors (tourists and excursionists) participating in organized tourism through travel agencies and tour operators totaled 555.9 thousand people (10.4% more than in 2023), of which:

Inbound tourism (foreign citizens visiting the country) registered 67.6 thousand people (+55.1% compared to 2023);

Outbound tourism (residents of the Republic of Moldova traveling abroad) – 396.9 thousand people (+9.5%);

Domestic tourism (residents of the Republic of Moldova traveling within the country for tourism purposes) – 91.3 thousand people (-6.5%).
In 2024, there was a significant increase in the number of foreign citizens visiting the Republic of Moldova through travel agencies — up by 55.1% compared to 2023, reaching 67.6 thousand visitors. The largest shares were visitors from Romania (67.2% of all foreign citizens received) and Italy (13.5%).
In 2024, the number of tourist-days increased by 24.8% compared to 2023. The average length of stay for foreign tourists in the country also increased to 4.0 days, up from 3.8 days in 2023.
There was also a 9.5% increase in the number of tourists and excursionists traveling abroad through travel agencies in 2024, totaling 396.9 thousand people.
The number of participants in domestic tourism decreased by 6.5% compared to 2023, totaling 91.3 thousand people, with the majority (73.0%) being day visitors (excursionists).
In 2024, revenues of travel agencies and tour operators amounted to 4,622.1 million lei (10.4% more than in 2023), of which: from inbound tourism – 66.5 million lei (+45.8%), from outbound tourism – 4,343.0 million lei (+10.7%), from domestic tourism – 212.6 million lei (-1.5%).
