Avdarma History Museum

In the heart of Gagauzia, the Avdarma Village History Museum tells the story of its community through documents, photographs and objects. It opened on 21 November 2011, marking 200 years since the settlement of Bulgarian-Gagauz colonists in the village.

The exhibition follows Avdarma’s history from 1563 to the present day through the Ottoman, Russian, Romanian, Soviet and contemporary periods. Its three halls display 1,174 artefacts: documents, awards, books, religious objects, old coins, jewellery, military items and testimonies of everyday life. The archive of St Michael’s Church holds a special place.
